Going to Starbucks Two Times a Day for a Year During COVID

What I learned and why I appreciate the people working there

When the pandemic first hit and stores started to shut down, I didn’t initially think much about Starbucks. I had been going there religiously a couple of times per week for the past couple of years in Boston, but I didn’t know the gravity of having no contact would affect my psyche.

Two weeks in, new policies started to pop up around my Starbucks App, which limited the number of people going into the store. To make it even more confusing, the curbside pickup was the only way to order.

Being an introvert, this made me nervous paying via an app, but after a couple of times of doing this, I never looked back on paying it in front of the cashier.

Fast forward a couple of months, I started to get an itch for more personal contact. I craved walking around the streets in the morning, going into my favorite Starbucks, ordering my tried and true Venti Iced Coffee (with half-half and no cream), and enjoying the walk back home.

I finally broke after four months though of not going to Starbucks, and slowly but surely crept back to drink its delicious glory. Going once a day became a past.
